Description

"HITLER'S BANKER" is the biography of Hjalmar Horace Greeley Schacht--the first-ever to appear in English. He was Germany's commissioner of currency and president of the Reichsbank in the 1920s. He was a genius having halted Germany's runaway inflation. Hitler was dependent on him for all things money and yet, before the war was over, Hitler had him imprisoned in Dachau. While he financed the German military, he held them in contempt and frequently clashed with the German hierarchy and with Hitler himself. He was probably involved in the assassination attempt on Hitler. He was imprisoned while the others were executed. He was acquitted at the Nuremberg trials and lived to be 93. TOTALLY FASCINATING!!
