This FLIR is still pretty darned state-of-the-art AND works as advertised.  Spend A LOT MORE if you want a newer one.  This FLIR SCOUT PS-24 does everything you need and stays on for 5+ hours if you need to hang out and watch all night.  USB plugged in can keep you going forever.
